LONDON/MIDDLESEX TO LEARN ENGLISH (May 2022)

1) Cross Cultural Learner Centre

First, you need to get an English language assessment to see what your current skill level is. There are a few options. You can do that at the Cross Cultural Learning Center (CCLC).
Complete the form on that page to book an appointment for an assessment. Once you have an assessment done, the CCLC will be able to provide you with many opportunities to learn English.
Before you get your assessment done at the CCLC, you can do a self-assessment here.

2) YMCA

Lots of programs for newcomers to settle in and to learn English.
I highly recommend you register for one of the English language programs here.

3) LINC

Free language training program for eligible adult learners in London.
Register! First take the free test and then they will enroll you in a free class.

4) London Public Library

There are many resources you can take advantage of through the London Public Library. I can help you to access those resources, but you will need a library card, which you can get online here.

Once you have registered, you will have a library card number and a PIN number. That will allow you to use all of the online library resources.

The webpage with the ESL (English as a Second Language) resources is here.

You can also take out books (study guides) to prepare for one of international English language tests (e.g. IELTS). Here is what is written about those resources on the library website:
“Test Preparation Materials: We have a selection of study guides and preparation materials for English proficiency tests, such as TOEFL, IELTS or TOIEC. To see a listing of available materials, click on the test names above, or do a keyword search in the catalogue using the name of the test as your search word.”

One-on-One English Conversation Program – this is where you are matched with a volunteer who helps you practice your English

5) Online ESL resources (London Public Library)

Here is a list with hyperlinks of the online ESL resources offered through the library. Again, you’ll need your library card to access these online resources
